2017

Martifer won a contract for the supply and assembly of metal structure for the Geneva International Airport.

In the naval sector, West Sea was awarded the construction of a luxury cruise ship to navigate in Antarctica.

2016

In 2016 the production of wind towers for the Âncora project was completed. This project began in 2014 and involved more than 100 employees entirely dedicated to the production of 84 wind towers. The Âncora project has four wind farms in operation (171.6 MW). This project includes two wind towers coated with elements projected and designed by two internationally renowned artists, Vhils and Joana Vasconcelos, in what is considered the largest contemporary art project in height.

In the naval sector, the first ship built by the West Sea in Viana do Castelo was delivered to Douro Azul. Viking Osfrid is a vessel very similar to the two hotel ships built in 2014 by Navalria (Viking Hemming and Viking Torgil). It is 79 meters long and accommodates 106 passengers.

In the beginning of the year, Martifer signs the contract for the sub concession of the lands and infrastructures of the old Viana do Castelo Shipyard (ENVC). It is in May that West Sea, the company created by Martifer to follow the sub concession, starts operating in Viana do Castelo. At the end of the year, West Sea signs the first shipbuilding contract.

Also in 2014, Brazil hosts the FIFA World Cup, having Martifer Metallic Constructions participated in the construction of three stadiums: Arena Fonte Nova (Salvador da Bahía), Arena Castelão (Fortaleza) and Arena da Amazônia (Manaus).

2012

2012 is the year of full operation of Martifer Metallic Constructions factory in Brazil. With a capacity to produce 12,000 tons of steel structure per year, this unit aims to respond to the great projects of the company in Brazil.

2007

Today, Martifer Metallic Constructions is one of the main companies in its sector and has more than 2,000 employees around the world, with activity in four segments: metallic structures, aluminium, stainless steel, equipment for wind power, petroleum and gas.

During the first semester of the year, it began construction of its metallic structure plant in one of the markets with the biggest growth potential for the next years: Brazil. With a capacity to produce approximately 12,000 tonnes per year and an area of 15,000 sqm this plant is expected to begin operations during the first semester of 2012.

2010
In March, Martifer Metallic Constructions acquired 45 % of the capital from Martifer Alumínios to HSF SGPS, taking control of the company's entire capital.
2009

Martifer and Hirschfeld create a Joint Venture for the production of wind energy components in the USA.

The metallic construction plant in Angola (15,000 tonnes of capacity) begins production in the 2nd semester of the year.

Martifer Alumínios, together with the other subsidiary of the Martifer Group, Martifer Solar, implemented a photovoltaic installation with architectural integration at the new house of culture of Alcobendas, which consists in the installation of photovoltaic facades and skylights in this building.

2008

Martifer Energy Systems buys Navalria. The acquisition price amounted to 4.7 million Euros.

Production begins on the industrial unit for wind park components.

Martifer Metallic Constructions buys, in Australia, the activity of Sassall, a company which is dedicated to the construction of aluminium facades. The acquisition value amounts to 4.2 million Euros. Martifer Alumínios acquired a position of 80% of this company with the remaining 20% belonging to the Wideform Group.

The consortium formed by Martifer, Mota-Engil and Coffey was awarded the works for the construction of the new Terminal 2 at the Dublin Airport in Ireland. Martifer Construções has works which total a value of 43.2 million Euros.

In August, the activity for the construction of aluminium facades is expanded to Poland.
2005
The metallic structures activity widens its market to Central Europe, opening branches in Romania, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Germany.
2004

In February, Martifer begins activity in the sector of renewable energy equipment, through Martifer Energia. This company dedicates itself to the manufacture of metallic towers for wind aero generators and is based in the Industrial Zone of Oliveira de Frades.

Martifer Energia begins the process for the implementation for an integrated Quality, Safety and Environmental Management System in accordance with the standards NP EN ISO 9001:2000, NP EN ISO 14001:1999 and OHSAS 18001:1999.

2003
In February 2003, Martifer Construções continues with the internationalisation process with the creation of an industrial unit in Gliwice, Poland, with an annual production of 15,000 tonnes of metallic structures. It starts operating in the 2nd semester of 2004.
2002

In order to meet the construction needs for the Euro2004 stadiums, Martifer Construções creates its second plant in Portugal, Benavente, with an annual production of 15,000 tonnes per year.

Martifer Alumínios gets its APCER certification in accordance with the standard NP EN ISO 9001:2000. The company is currently certified by the integrated Quality, Safety and Environmental Management System in accordance with the standards NP EN ISO 9001:2000, NP EN ISO 14001:1999 and OHSAS 18001:1999.

Martifer Construções Metalomecânicas implements the Quality Management System through standard ISO 9001:2000, and in 2003 obtained certification through the integrated Quality, Safety and Environmental Management System in accordance with the standards NP EN ISO 9001:2000 and OHSAS 18001:1999.

1999
In November, Martifer expands its activities into Spain with the objective of becoming one of the companies of reference in metallic construction in this country.

In Portugal, Expo 98 takes place with Martifer participating in various projects, such as the Vasco da Gama tower or Praça Sony.
1995
Martifer begins the certification process for standard NP EN ISO 9002, which came together in November 1997 with the awarding of the APCER Certificate No. 97/CEP.579.
1990

In February of 1990, Martifer Construções Metalomecânicas, SA is formed as a limited company, with capital of approximately 22,500 Euros (4,500 thousand escudos) and is based in the Industrial Zone of Oliveira de Frades, where it continues today.

At the end of its first year of activity, Martifer had 18 employees and a turnover of 240 thousand Euros.
